Small spring flowers

This evening the weather was very nice. This compensated a lot of bad weather we’ve had over the past few days.
I found this a good reason to grab my camera and take a stroll around the neighborhood.

I ended up shooting various small flowers blooming all around, it’s quite amazing how much you can find to photograph when you have a good macro setup and keep your eyes open for details.

These flowers are all around the same size, roughly 1 or 2 cm in diameter.

Central Bearded Dragons

I realize I have not posted any photos last week. This is mainly because I did not make any.
The reason for this was, or in fact were, my new home animals.
Yesterday I’ve gotten 2 central bearded dragons. Because I was getting these I spent most evenings last week preparing their terrarium.

Anyway, they’ve calmed down from their move by now so I thought I’d shoot a few fun pictures of them to show you all.

The ‘Kijfhoekkerk’, HDR

Yesterday two friends and me went out to Kijfhoek to shoot some photos.
Well, actually just one friend and me were shooting photos, the other friend just came along and kept us company.

It was a fun evening, though not the best for photography. The weather was very boring and overcast most of the time.
However, we did encounter a small church which we thought could make a nice shot in High Dynamic Range.
Luckily when I made the series of shots for the HDR photo the weather cleared up just a bit so I’ve got some nice clouds in there which actually gave me quite a nice sky.
After playing around with the HDR processing for a while I ended up with a shot I rather like. This is probably one of my better HDR shots.

De Berkenhof’s Tropical Zoo

Today my mom and I went to De Berkenhof’s Tropical Zoo in Zeeland.
This Zoo was supposed to be one of the largest tropical butterfly gardens in Europe so we figured that should be nice. We weren’t wrong.
The garden was filled with butterflies and beautiful flowers, a few reptiles (sadly behind glass), a nice pond (with really large fish in it) and the occasional bird.

We spent several hours in there shooting butterflies and flowers and had a great time doing so.
Some of the results:

My mother also shot a nice photo of me while I was trying to capture a butterfly which was sitting on one of the cactuses .
The photo I made didn’t turn out very nice, this one is nice though. So far I didn’t have a good photo of me with a camera yet.

Nesting swans

This week some swans started nesting in our neighborhood.
They’re rather close to a school so I’m curious how long it will last before someone removes them as swans tend to get really aggressive while they’re nesting.

Luckily they weren’t too aggressive today and by letting them get used to me I was able to go really close and capture some nice photos.
